Co-Streaming on Twitch

Introducing New Co-Streaming Features on Twitch

Every year, the Twitch community continues to redefine what’s possible when we come together live. From charity streams to record-breaking tournaments, special events have become some of the most powerful moments on our platform. These broadcasts are unique, one-time broadcasts that stand apart from a streamer’s regular content; they bring communities together in powerful ways and often draw audiences far larger than a typical broadcast. That is why we’re committed to investing in tools that make them even bigger and better.

We’re raising the bar for live events on Twitch with new Co-Streaming features designed to amplify reach and impact, making Twitch the premier destination for streamer- and brand-led moments.

The Purpose Behind Building Co-Streaming

To make Twitch the premier destination for large-scale live events, we’re enhancing Co-Streaming with new features designed around one core principle: Maximizing Event Reach and Engagement.

For years, the act of rebroadcasting content thrived as a community-driven behavior, and is a powerful way to amplify live events. But as the scale of these events grew, challenges around control, measurement, and visibility made it hard for event organizers and streamers alike to realize their full potential. Co-Streaming on Twitch bridges that gap, turning a fragmented experience into a unified, measurable, and safe-to-use system.

How Co-Streaming Works On Twitch

Co-Streaming allows a Main Broadcaster (the event organizer or brand channel hosting the event) to amplify the reach of their live event by giving allowlisted streamers permission to simultaneously rebroadcast that content while adding their own perspective, commentary, or community engagement.

For the first time, Main Broadcasters will also see aggregated analytics across all approved Co-Streams, giving them an accurate view of their event’s full reach on Twitch.

This feature is designed for large-scale, special broadcasts such as:

  • Large-scale esports events broadcast worldwide
  • Official game announcements streamed to global audiences
  • Community-driven celebrations of content creators
  • Record-breaking special events

Unlocking More with Co-Streaming

Shared Viewership Metrics
For the first time, Twitch will combine viewership across all approved Co-Streams, giving Main Broadcasters a clear, accurate picture of their total reach. Here’s how it works:

  • Combined Total Viewership Count - that shows the total unique count of concurrent viewers across all channels Co-Streaming the event’s broadcast
  • Improved Discovery – Shared viewership metrics will now appear across Twitch discovery surfaces. This helps viewers find your event more easily and ensures that popularity-based sorting reflects the full, combined audience.
  • Individual Channel Viewership - Streamers and viewers can still see each channel’s individual concurrent viewership (CCV), ensuring streamers can track their personal impact towards the event’s total reach.

Greater Control for Event Organizers
Main Broadcasters can now manage which streamers are approved to Co-Stream their events through an allowlist, ensuring better brand alignment and more efficient control over how the event broadcast is shared on the service.

Dedicated Event Analytics
A dedicated event analytics dashboard will provide better insights into the event’s total reach, and the contribution of each participating Co-Streamer.

Free and Safe-to-Use Content for Allowlisted Co-Streamers
Allowlisted Co-Streamers will have the permissions to rebroadcast free, safe-to-use content, while also helping elevate the main broadcast and share in its momentum.

Safeguards and Guidelines

To ensure Co-Streaming continues to create safe and meaningful experiences, we’ll be introducing clear Co-Streaming guidelines for both Main Broadcasters and Co-Streamers. These guidelines are designed to help everyone stay within the intended use of the feature, avoid potential misuse, and discourage activities that could lead to enforcement actions.

Together, these protections create a framework that balances creativity with accountability. Main Broadcasters can expand their reach knowing they have set clear parameters for the Co-Streaming of their content, and Co-Streamers can confidently participate in amplifying major events. This shared responsibility helps keep Co-Streaming a trusted tool for creators, brands, and audiences alike.
